FAQ

  • Why should I swaddle bathe my baby?

Swaddle bathing is a research proven bathing method that has been shown to keep your baby warmer and happier than other bathing methods. Your baby deserves to enjoy bath time and conserve energy for growth!

  • What blanket should I use to swaddle bathe?

Fleece. Through our testing, we found that when wet, fleece retains heat better than cotton or nonwoven materials. Fleece is also cozy and soft, and it washes well.

Please visit our page on blankets for more information.

  • What cleanser is best for bathing?

Baby skin is sensitive and still maturing. A cleanser that is free of harmful agents and is slightly acidic will be best for your baby’s skin. Unscented cleansers are best since fragrances can be irritating to your infant’s skin. Unscented cleansers also enable your infant to smell you after the bath instead of masking your scent with perfumes.

  • Can I bathe with the umbilical cord still on?

The AAP, the American Academy of Pediatricians, states that a quick immersion bath is ok prior to the cord falling off. Please see their education page here, https://www.healthychildren.org/English/ages-stages/baby/bathing-skin-care/Pages/Umbilical-Cord-Care.aspx

  • How do I do a swaddle bath?

Fill your infant tub with 101°F water to about 5” depth. The water level should be lower than the baby’s chest. Place your swaddled baby in the tub. Take out one body part at a time for washing. Here is a video on how to swaddle bathe your baby.
